Vincent Fred Russo, 81, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, in Las Vegas, Nev., after a brief illness.
Vince is survived by Carol, his loving wife and life partner of 56 years; daughters, Lisa of Cedar Rapids and Tracy (David) of Henderson, Nev.; grandchildren, Jamie, Tayler, Anthony, Cassidy and "DJ"; great-grandchild, Jazlyn; and siblings, Fred (Patty) of Cedar Rapids, Jeannie (John) Young of Pahrump, Nev., Joe (Donna) of Naples, Fla., Patrick of Cedar Falls, Missy (Thom) Darden of Cedar Rapids, Rod of Coweta, Okla., and Rhonda of Fayetteville, Ark.; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Tom; daughter, Maria; and brother, John.
Vince was born Jan. 24, 1934, in St. Louis, Mo., to parents Fred and Juanita Russo. He graduated in 1952 from Wilson High School in Cedar Rapids and served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957, during the Korean War. He operated Russo's Pizza House and Little Caesars in Cedar Rapids before working many years in retail sales at Sears and Smulekoffs.
He and Carol moved to Las Vegas in 1988 where he worked in property management. He later enjoyed retirement by staying active by golfing, traveling, cooking, entertaining and trekking around Las Vegas with his loyal pal, "TJ," his little poodle, sure to be by his side. He always had love for many animals!
Vince will be cremated and a portion of his remains will be placed in Hawaii. A celebration of life and wake in Cedar Rapids willl be held in the spring of 2016.
