Donohoe, Violet 'Vi'
WEST BRANCH - Violet “Vi” Donohoe, 67, of West Branch, a beloved wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Funeral services for Vi will be held Thursday, Oct. 21, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, West Branch, with Father Dennis Martin officiating. A parish vigil service will take place Wednesday at 4 p.m., with visitation to follow until 7 p.m., at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will be at St. Bridget's Cemetery, Nolan Settlement, Solon.
Violet “Vi” Donohoe, daughter of Charles Joseph and Jessie Cleo VanDusen Zousel, was born May 22, 1943, in Cedar Valley, Iowa. She was a 1961 graduate of West Branch High School. Vi was united in marriage to Bernard “Ben” Patrick Donohoe at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in West Branch on July 19, 1969.
Vi owned Vi's Stylist from 1967-1971 and then was a teacher's aide at West Branch Schools until 2001. She was a member of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary, past member of the Women of the Moose and Altar & Rosary Society and belonged to a card club.
Vi is loved and survived by her son, Chuck (Becky) Donohoe of Solon; grandchildren, Bernard “Ben,” Bailey and Kyler Donohoe; sisters-in-law, Velva Zousel of Cedar Valley, Iowa, Vera Zousel of Buffalo, Minn., Nancy Donohoe of Tipton and Dana Lou Donohoe of Tipton; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Jessie Zousel; husband, Bernard Donohoe on Nov. 2, 1979; and brothers, Ardell, Fred, and Charles ”Jr” Zousel.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Vi.
