Kremenak, Leilani L.
Leilani L. Kremenak, 68, of 1729 Wilson Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Father Chris Podhajsky. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, Ben; son, Ben (Serena) Kremenak III of Cedar Rapids; daughters, Jamie (Victor) Sagastume of Texas and Renee Tobin of Mount Vernon; 10 grandchildren, including Zachary Kremenak and Hunter Kremenak; mother, Maybell Benning of Cedar Rapids; brother, Al (Barb) Benning of Cedar Rapids; mother-in-law, Lucille Kremenak of Cedar Rapids; sister-in-law, Merrie (Kremenak) Sanchez of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law, Richard (Darla) Kremenak of Buffalo, Mo.; many nieces and nephews; and a special dog, Baby.
Leilani was preceded in death by her father, Robert Benning; father-in-law, Benedict John Kremenak Sr.; and brother-in-law, Fred Kremenak.
Born Jan. 27, 1944, in Eldora, Iowa, Leilani was the daughter of Robert and Maybell (Bailey) Benning. On Dec. 26, 1964, she was united in marriage to Ben Kremenak Jr. at St. Wenceslaus Church in Cedar Rapids. She worked for Iowa Electric and EDS.
Leilani was involved in breast cancer awareness and enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, motorcycle riding, camping and NHRA car racing.
Leilani was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister who was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
A memorial fund has been established in Leilani's memory.
