Vinton man injured in I-380 crash

LINN COUNTY - A Vinton man was injured Monday afternoon after a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 380.
According to a media release from the Linn County Sheriff's Office, Linn County deputies and Center Point Ambulance responded at approximately 2:43 p.m. to a two-vehicle crash at the 37.35 mile marker of I-380.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel found a car with extensive front-end damage and a sport utility vehicle with extensive rear-end damage both pulled on to the road's shoulder, according to the release. The driver of the car, Michael Dominick, 35, of Vinton, was standing outside his vehicle with 'a laceration to his head,” police said. The SUV's driver, Beverly Jackson, 61, also of Vinton, was still in her vehicle, uninjured, according to the release.
Dominick was transported via ambulance to Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton. His injuries appear not to be life threatening, according to police.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, police said. The incident remains under investigation.
