Charlotte Evelyn Scolaro, 93, of Liberty, Mo., entered into Eternal Rest on Monday, Feb 26, 2018.
Charlotte was born Oct. 20, 1924, Blairstown. She married Charles Edward Scolaro on Dec. 6, 1947, in Vinton. Their marriage was blessed again at All Saints Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, during a 25th anniversary Mass. Charlotte was a member of St. Jude's Circle (35 years) at All Saints and Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Smithville, Mo. She loved attending Mass, praying the rosary, and socializing with family, friends and residents of Avonlea Cottage of Gladstone, and Pleasant Valley Manor Care Center in Liberty.
Survivors include daughters, Charlene (Charles) Stuehmer of Kansas City, Mo., and Catherine (Ronald) Milbach of Buckeye, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and Colleen and Jim Nieman.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles E. Scolaro; parents, Eldo and Bertha Birch; brother, Eldo Raymond (Genevieve) Birch Jr.; sisters, Dorothy Naomi (Samuel) Vargason and Mildred Nadine Birch; son, Charles Allen (Linda) Scolaro Sr.; grandchildren, Charles Allen Jr., Tammy and Michael Scolaro and Ryan Stuehmer; and great-grandchildren, Michelle Pena, Joseph and Joshua Scolaro.
Genealogy Note: Charlotte was the daughter of Eldo Raymond Birch Sr. and Bertha Mary Elvina Kern; and granddaughter of Fred (Caroline Gieskieng) Birch and Joseph (Mary Oliva) Kern. Her great-grandparents were Thomas (Louisa Wilson) Birch, Henry Fredrich (Nancy Ann Miller) Gieskieng, Christopher (Margaret Burkhart) Kern and John (Sophia) Oliva Sr. Her great-great-grandparents were John (Mary E Green) Birch, Mr. and Mrs. Carmichael Wilson, Johann Heinrich (Marie Wiese Wessling) Gieskieng and Hugh (Charlotte Hale) Miller Jr.
A visitation/rosary will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, March 2, at All Saints Chapel. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Friday at the church officiated by the Rev. John R. Flaherty. Burial following Mass at Mount Calvary Cemetery Cedar Rapids.
Memorials may be made to All Saints Catholic Church in memory of Charlotte Scolaro. She will be dearly missed by family, friends and caretakers at Avonlea Cottage of Gladstone, Mo., and Pleasant Valley Manor in Liberty. Brosh Chapel & The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
