Smyth, Vida M.
Vida M. Smyth, 88, of 3611 Gilmore Rd., Marion, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at Rockridge Care Center in Shellsburg. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Monday, April 11, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion followed by a graveside service at 12:30 p.m. at Lafayette Cemetery, Alburnett, by the Rev. H. Burr Bryant.
Survivors include two sons, Don (Sandi) Smyth of Phoenix, Ariz., and Wayne Smyth and fiancee Brenda Pearson of Marion; a daughter, Karen (D.J.) Wilson of Marion; two sisters, Val Joslin of Marion and Valerie Walker of Cedar Rapids; and a grandson, Steven (Kelsey) Smyth of Conway, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, and a sister.
Vida was born May 5, 1922, the daughter of Frank and Lulu (Thede) Krumroy in Mechanicsville. On Jan. 15, 1947, she married Virgil Smyth. He died Dec. 3, 1997.
Vida worked at Wilson's in the business office before her marriage. She then farmed with her husband for many years in Linn County. She was a member of Alburnett United Methodist Church.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Vida.
