Timms, Helen Marie
Helen Marie Timms, 92, passed away May 19, 2011, at the Meridian Retirement Center in Galveston, Texas, where she resided for seven years. A memorial service was held at The Meridian Chapel with friends and family attending.
On Saturday, July 30, Helen will be laid to rest beside her husband, Melvin, and their two infant sons. Interment services will be at 1 p.m. at Lafayette Cemetery in Alburnett. The Rev. Mike Morgan will officiate. A memorial gathering of family and friends will follow at the Cedar Rapids Marriott (1200 Collins Rd. NE) from 2 to 5 p.m.
She is survived by four daughters, JoAnn Fairley and husband Dallas of Altamont, Ill., Betty Matheny and husband Richard of Cedar Rapids, Rose Marie Shepard and husband Donald of The Woodlands, Texas and Mary Welch and husband Jeffrey of Galveston, Texas; along with nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
Helen was born July 6, 1918, in Elberon, Iowa.She made her home in Alburnett and Marion for over 84 years before moving to Texas. She was a dual member of First United Methodist Church of Marion and Moody Memorial United Methodist Church of Galveston, Texas.
