Magellan Pipeline adds biodiesel at Des Moines terminal
Magellan Pipeline Co. has added equipment for unloading, storing and blending biodiesel at its petroleum products terminal in Des Moines.
The Iowa Board announced the improvement Friday, saying it will enhance distribution of biodiesel by making it simple for petroleum distributors to access pre-blended fuel.
The Des Moines terminal is Magellan's largest in Iowa. The project received funding assistance from the Iowa Renewable Fuel Infrastructure Board, the Iowa Soybean Association and soybean checkoff program, and the Iowa Economic Development Authority, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy.
Iowa has 13 biodiesel plants.
