A Coralville man was arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure and failure to comply with the Iowa sex offender registry after authorities say he exposed himself at an Iowa City park Tuesday afternoon.
Officers were called to College Green Park after receiving word that a man was exposing himself. Upon arrival, officers observed Kelly L. Wade, 41, of 2869 Coral Court No. 102, Coralville, pulling up his pants.
Investigation into the matter revealed that Wade is a registered sex offender and had allegedly exposed himself for approximately 30 minutes while people were present in the park. Public parks with playground equipment for children are exclusionary zones where sex offenders are not allowed, Iowa City police said.
Wade was being held a the Johnson County Jail on a $30,000 cash or surety bond Wednesday morning.
Iowa court records indicate that Wade pleaded guilty to indecent exposure and was convicted of failure to comply with the sex offender registry in 2006. Records indicate that Wade was also placed on the Colorado sex offender registry after he exposed himself to a female between the ages of 14 and 17 in 2000.
