Brickman, Richard H. 'Dick'
OELWEIN - Richard H. “Dick” Brickman, 97, of Oelwein, formerly of Oran and Fairbank area, died Friday morning, Sept. 24, 2010, at East Town Manor Care in Independence. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Fairbank, with the Rev. Dean Rothschild officiating. Burial: Floral Hills Cemetery, Hazleton. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Woods Funeral Home in Fairbank and one hour before services Monday at the church.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Barb Strang, Iowa City, and Pat (Getz) Kuenz, St. Louis, Mo.; two stepsons, Les Getz, La Porte City, and Gaylon Fink, Waterloo; a stepgrandson, James Bentley, Oelwein, whom he raised; 14 stepgrandchildren; 16 stepgreat-grandchildren; and seven stepgreat-great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three wives; a stepson, Larry Fink; a brother, Dale Brickman; and a sister, Edna Youngblut.
Born May 16, 1913, in Oran Township, Fayette County, the son of Henry and Jennie (Stohr) Brickman, he attended Oran Consolidated School. Dick married Edna L. (Olander) Nichols on June 26, 1940. She died Nov. 4, 1987. He then married Irene (Lenius) Fink on Jan. 1, 1989, and she died Oct. 18, 1993. He married Naomi (Smith) Getz on Sept. 16, 1995. She died in January 2007. He was a retired farmer.
