Crow, Ernest
Ernest Crow, 86, of Blairstown, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009 at St. Luke's Methodist Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. David Grandon will officiate. Entombment with military honors in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his children Cheryl (Ted) Hanna of Robins, Dennis Crow of Blairstown, Jan (Stanley) Oltmann of Marion, Rodney (Cindy) Crow of Luzerne, Daryl (Jan) Crow of Watkins, and Paula (Dale) Horak of Alburnett; 16 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and special friend Lucille.
He was preceded in death by his wife Adeline, parents, two sisters, and one brother.
Ernest was born Feb. 13, 1923 in Van Horne, the son of George and Ruth (Walters) Crow. He married Adeline Rose Dvorak on January 16, 1943 in Cedar Rapids. Adeline preceded Ernest in death on Oct. 16, 1997. Ernest was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was a lifetime farmer, school bus driver, and truck driver. He was a member of the Blairstown United Methodist Church, Blairstown American Legion Post No. 170, and Farm Bureau.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
