Dorothy C. Hoff Canavan, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Mercy Hallmar. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, where a visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Certified Celebrant Jim Parton will officiate.
Survivors include her daughter, Glenda (Greg) Michel; her grandchildren, Amy (Brian) Steffen of Cedar Rapids, Greg (Debbie) Michel of St. Charles, Ill., Alicia (Rob) Buchheim of Cedar Rapids and Glenn (Gesa) Michel of Crested Butte, Colo.; and her great-grandchildren, Andrew Steffen and Elizabeth Buchheim, both of Cedar Rapids, Vincent Michel and Yvon Michel, both of Crested Butte, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and a brother, Glenn Clime.
Dorothy was born Nov. 15, 1920, in Urbana, Iowa, the daughter of Wayne and Lillian (Harrison) Clime. She married Carl Hoff in January 1942. He died in 1972. She then married Clifford Canavan in June 1976. He died in 1994.
Dorothy was a member of VFW Auxiliary and Legion Auxiliary. She retired from Collins Radio in 1971 after 19 years of service.
She enjoyed dancing and spending time with her family and friends.
