Kimberly "Kim" Jean Edler, 53, of 7010 Baldridge Pl. NE, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at First Church of the Open Bible, by the
Rev. Dan Sanford. Burial: Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Friends may visit with the family Thursday after 10 a.m. at the church. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Kim is survived by her brother, Jim (Linda) Edler of Pensacola, Fla.; her sister-in-law, Linda Edler of North Liberty; her nieces and nephews, Amy, John, Jimmy (Wendy) and Nathan (Margaret); her great-nephews, Trey, Anderson and Graham; her cousins, Randy and Irma Cook of Davenport; and Marsha, who was like a sister to her.
She was preceded in death by her mom and dad; an infant sister, Doris; and a brother, Richard.
Kim was born May 30, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Lloyd and Mildred Forgie Edler. She was employed at the Ox Yoke Inn for many years.
Kim was a country music fan and enjoyed creating latch-hook art, spending time reading and especially being a mother hen and helping others at her group home.
Kim would recall the two most enjoyable moments in her life were her trip this spring to Disney World and celebrating her 52nd birthday at her very first birthday party which was hosted by her Discovery Living family.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff and residents of Discovery Living who were Kim's second family and to Dr. Gosch and his medical team at the Gosch Center.
