Katherine Baldwin, 89, of Shellsburg, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at Rock Ridge Residential Care Center in Shellsburg. Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur; a daughter, Dorothy (Norman) Heistand of Vinton; and a grandson, James (Stephanie Bridge) Heistand of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Ivan Allen; and a grandson, John Heistand.
Katherine was born Feb. 8, 1927, in Council Bluffs, the daughter of Lee and Bertha Miller Allen. She married Arthur C. Baldwin on Nov. 6, 1946, in Council Bluffs.
Katherine and her husband, Arthur, operated a cafeteria at NADL in Ames for several years. She enjoyed gardening, her various pets, embroidering and especially the time spent with her beloved family.
Katherine was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
