Walker, Sharon Kay (Price)
Sharon Kay (Price) Walker, 72, a resident of Garnett Place in Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marion, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by the Rev. Donald Loesch. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Sondoe; daughter, Debra (Greg) Pauly of Springville; two sons, Dave (Terri) Walker of Altoona, and Rick Walker of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Kori (Craig) Avis, Joe (Amber) Nietert, Mandy (Nick) Merritt, Zach Walker, Becca Walker and Gregory Pauly; three great-grandchildren, Payson Nietert, Brekin Nietert and Addison Merritt; and siblings, Rose Grove, Deloris (Al) Lyon, Doris (Bob) Harris, and Dave (Christy) Price.
Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Beverly Armstrong; her dog, Mookie; and her close friend, Lois Dye of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Dennis Price.
Sherry was born April 2, 1939, the daughter of David and Dorothy (Young) Price in Iowa City, Iowa. She graduated from Marion High School in 1957. Sherry married Sondoe Walker on May 19, 1956, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She worked as an engineering expediter at Rockwell Collins for over 25 years and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and American Legion Auxiliary, Hanford Post No. 5, Cedar Rapids. Family was Sherry's greatest joy, especially her grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marion in Sherry's memory.
