Richard Francis Jedlicka, 93, of Tipton, entered eternity on Tuesday, April 7, 2020, while under hospice care at Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Tipton. There will be a private burial service on Monday, April 13, at St. Mary's Cemetery, with Father Okumo officiating because of the current pandemic. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at a later date. All updated service information will be posted on the same website that online condolences may be shared at: www.fryfuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers and in Richard's memory, the family has set up three memorial funds: 1) Cedar Manor Nursing Home, 2) Tipton Lions Club and 3) St. Mary's Catholic Church. The family asks that all cards and memorials be mailed to the following address: Richard Jedlicka Memorial Fund, c/o Dale Jedlicka, 540 E. Fourth St., Tipton, IA 52772.
Richard was born Jan. 6, 1927, in Linn County, Iowa, and was the son of La Forest A. Jedlicka and Ruth Margaret Murphy Jedlicka. On Sept. 23, 1947, Richard was united in marriage to the love of his life, Betty Louise Larson, in Lisbon, Iowa. Along with farming all of his life, Richard dedicated his time and passion to the Tipton Lions Club for over 40 years. He was a founding member of the Tipton Senior Park board and served as board president for several years. Richard was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus - 4th Degree. Richard also assisted at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton for many years.
Richard is survived by his children, daughter, Mary Lou Jedlicka (Gary Mullen) Lange and three sons, Gary (Pam Tedrow) Jedlicka, Dean (Sara) Jedlicka and Dale (Marcie) Jedlicka; three sisters, Dolores (Jedlicka) Timmerman, Carol (Jedlicka) Jennings and Rita (Jedlicka) Sissel; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, La Forest and Ruth Jedlicka; his wife, Betty Louise; his brother, Kenneth Jedlicka; his sister, Margaret (Jedlicka) Biedenbach; and his son, Robert Jedlicka.
