Harrington, Mary Jean

Mary Jean Harrington, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center after a short illness. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Chris Podhasky will officiate. Inurnment: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Survivors include a daughter, Michele Harrington Altieri of Denver, Colo.; a son, John of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Michael (Mandy), Dominic and Gabriel Altieri; as well as her pet dog Miah.

She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Mary Joan Regan.

Mary was born March 17, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Joseph and Cecilia (Woods) Reindl. She was a sales representative for AT&T for over 31 years, retiring in 1999.

Mary was a devoted and lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic. She enjoyed saying the rosary, singing, collecting antiques, animals and especially the time she spent with her beloved family.

Memorial donations may be given to the Catholic Worker House or Cedar Valley Humane Society.
