Rosalyn "Rose" Josephine Schaul, 94, of Manchester, entered into her Heavenly home on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.
Rose was born May 27, 1922, in Balltown, the daughter of Louis and Catherine (Schirmer) Sigwarth. She was raised and educated in Balltown. On Nov. 12, 1941, Rose was united in marriage to Ambrose Henry Schaul in Balltown. Seven children were born to this union. Together they farmed southwest of Manchester and retired to Manchester in 1977.
Rose was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Masonville and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Manchester. She was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Rose was an excellent cook and a great mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her seven children, Dennis Schaul of Manchester, Janet (Ed) Glynn of Ryan, Dale (Barbel) Schaul of Madison, Wis., Mary Ann (Rick) Knabenbauer of Longmont, Colo., Mark (Marcia) Schaul of West Des Moines and Joan Clark and Dean Schaul, both of Manchester; son and daughter-by-heart, Francis (Joan) Sperfslage of Edgewood; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ambrose, in 2009; her granddaughter, Ellen Hoefer, in 2016; son-in-law, Jan Clark, in 2010; two step-mothers; six sisters, Berdiva Gansemer, Verena Barton, Julietta Oneyear, Genevieve Backes, Rita Schlarmann and Regina Voss; and one brother, Ewald Sigwarth.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester with the Rev. Joseph Schneider officiating. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester, where there will be a 3 p.m. Scripture service. Friends may also call one hour before Mass Wednesday at the church. Interment: St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.
