JOAN WEBER Dyersville Joan Weber, 74, of Dyersville, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Dyersville, surrounded by her family. She died as she lived, strong, faithful, and with a smile on her face after an eight-month battle with cancer. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tues-day, Dec. 1, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave. SW, in Dyersville. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate. Joan was born Aug. 15, 1941, the daughter of Gilbert and Mary (Sabers) Funke, and grew up in Worthington, graduating from St. Paul High School. She met Art Weber at a Worthington dance and they were married Oct. 12, 1963. Together they farmed northwest of Dyersville. Joan was an outgoing and upbeat person, who thoroughly enjoyed her family and friends. In addition to helping on the farm, Joan took on several jobs in town, including working at the Ertl Toy Co., Dyersville Sale Barn, Wholesale Meats and the Sewing Factory. In her retirement she volunteered baking cookies for the hospital and cleaning tables at Oak Crest Manor. She also helped out with the Scrip Program at Xavier Grade School. Joan is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Art; three children and their families: Brenda (Jay) Hefel and Tyler, Mackenzi and Morgan, of Farley; Larry (Miechelle) Weber and Benjamin and Michael, of Iowa City; and Robin Todus and Ethan of River Forest, Ill.; her mother-in-law, Marc Weber Steger; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, John Hoefler of New Vienna and Kay (Bill) Recker, Elaine Weber, Lois (Ken) Bries and Jerry (Jan) Weber, all of Dyersville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Verdon Gavin; her father-in-law, Al Weber; her stepfather-in-law, Edmund "Skinny" Steger; an infant son; a son-in-law, Chris Todus; a sister, Marilyn Hoefler; and a brother-in-law, Joe Weber. We would like to thank Dr. Engelman and his staff for making Mom feel like "she was his only patient." Thanks also to the caring staff at Mercy Medical Center in Dyersville and Hospice of Dubuque. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.kramerfuneral.com.
