Harlan, Helen Joan
Helen Joan Harlan, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 6 p.m. Monday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary.
Helen was born April 16, 1918, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Frank and Julia Biskup. Helen graduated from St. Wenceslaus Catholic School. She married Lewis C. Harlan on April 30, 1942, in Cedar Rapids. She worked for Witwer Wholesale and United States Bank for several years.
Helen was a lifetime member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, where she was involved with St. Monica's Circle. She enjoyed taking holiday treats to the homebound, playing cards, and visiting casinos.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Joann Harlan of Cedar Rapids; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lewis; and her brothers, Leonard Biskup and Archbishop George J. Biskup.
