Happy Animal and Re|collect

Paintings by Emma Steinkraus and multimedia artwork by Lex Thompson, in the Marvin Cone and Eaton-Buchan Galleries of Sinclair Auditorium. Steinkraus' art combines the detailed richness of Northern Renaissance painting with the bright colors of pop art in an exhibition titled 'Happy Animal.” In Lex Thompson's 'Re|collect” multimedia exhibition, he generates a record of Martha Maxwell's achievements with photography, taxidermy and film. Maxwell was a Colorado naturalist who shot and stuffed a menagerie of animals for a diorama installation at the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exposition. Gilded Pear Gallery will exhibit artwork created by the women who operate the gallery. Gallery owner Suzy McGrane-Hop will display her work. Farm Life in Iowa: Photographs by A.M. Wettach

On loan from the University of Iowa Museum of Art. Wettach's photographs documented rural existence from 1925 to 1960. Wettach (1901-1976) worked as a freelance photographer based in Mount Pleasant.
