White, James D.
James D. White, 71, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center, surrounded by his family following a short battle with acute leukemia. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 8, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Cuba City, Wis., by the Rev. David Flanagan. Burial: St. Rose Cemetery, Cuba City, Wis. A vigil service will be held 4 p.m. Sunday at Teahen Funeral Home, where friends may visit from 3 to 7 p.m., and again from 10 until 11 a.m. Monday at St. Rose of Lima.
James is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Debbie (David) Schnoor of Friendswood, Texas; son, Mike “Whitey” White of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Jacob and Alexa Schnoor; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Klaas and Grace Brummer, Merrill (Jim) Banfield, Tracy (Dan) Mootz and Richard (Bev) Klaas, all of Cuba City, Wis., Gladys Klaas and Darlene Klaas, both of Cedar Rapids, and Nancy (Bud) Loeffelholz of Platteville, Wis.; and brother-in-law, Frank (Mary) Klaas of Holmen, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald; sister-in-law, Marlene Klaas; and brother-in-law, John Klaas.
James D. White was born May 6, 1939, in Platteville, Wis., son of Delbert and Anna (Leehan) White. He married Mary Klaas on Sept. 9, 1961, at St. Rose. He served in the United States Army. He worked at Wilson's Packing Plant, Linkbelt-FMC and then the City of Cedar Rapids. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, Moose Lodge, Swisher American Legion, St Jude Knights of Columbus 5544 and SaPaDaPaSo. He was the founder and president of Cedar Rapids Packer Backer Club.
James enjoyed football, golf, camping and Irish Parades. He loved his time with his grandchildren.
