Culp, Anna E.
Anna E. Culp, 90, of Iowa City, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at Oaknoll Retirement Residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at First Presbyterian Church in Iowa City. Following the services there will be a time of fellowship and refreshments in the fellowship hall of the church. Entombment will take place in the mausoleum at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Anna Elizabeth Keiser was born March 15, 1921, in Sunbury, Pa., the daughter of Marlin and Hanna (Meiser) Keiser. Following graduation, Anna worked during the war as one who tested radar for Westinghouse Corporation. On Dec. 25, 1943, she married Dr. David A. Culp in Sunbury, Pa. In 1951, the couple and family moved to Iowa City, where David was a physician with the Department of Urology in the College of Medicine at the University of Iowa. Anna cared for her family, was active in Johnson County politics, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Her family includes her children, Roberta Culp of Coralville, Marylin Culp (Gene LeBeau) of Charlotte, N.C., David Culp (Crystal) of Seattle, Wash., Matthew Culp (Mary) of Des Moines and Thomas Culp (Pam) of Center Point; grandchildren, Danielle Murray, David Murray, Meridith Burba, James Tucker, David Culp, Katie Culp, Sarah Culp, Calvin Culp, Madelyn Culp, Brenton Culp and Lacey Stafford; and great-grandchildren, Elise and Eva Burba, Cameron and Ethan Tucker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; and two sisters, Marian Wolfe and Gloria Weaver.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Anna's memory to the Iowa Kidney Foundation or Iowa City Hospice.
