Hoover, Richard W.
Richard W. Hoover, 84, of Bethel Park, Pa., formerly of Robins, died July 7, 2011, at St. Clair Hospital, Bethel Park. Memorial services: 2 p.m. July 23 at Christ United Methodist Church, Bethel Park, with the Rev. Cindy Schneider officiating. There will be no visitation. Committal services, with his wife, will be at Christ United Methodist Church Columbarium, Bethel Park, with military rites.
Survivors include his children, Linda of Toledo, Ohio, Scott (Sandi) of Columbus, Ohio and Bruce of Bethel Park; brothers, Charles (Nelda) Hoover and Gerald (Arlene) Hoover; sister, Donna (Jim) Moneypenny; and grandchildren, Daniel, Kristen and Jenna.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hoover; his wife, Jeanne; and a sister and brother-in-law, Betty (Harlon) Chaffee.
Born Aug. 11, 1926, Richard married Jeanne Thoman on Aug. 30, 1952. He graduated from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, with a degree in civil engineering and served 18 months in the military. Richard was employed with PPG Industries, working 18 years in Barberton, Ohio and then in Pittsburgh, Pa., until his retirement.
