CORALVILLE - Athletic apparel store Lululemon Athletica has plans to open a store at Iowa River Landing in Coralville later this year.
Deanna Trumbull, director of leasing for the Canadian-based chain, said the yoga-focused retail store will open in the shopping district sometime this fall, but an official opening date has not been set.
The store will occupy 1,854 square feet of space at 920 E. Second Ave., Suite 160.
The company currently runs a showroom, which has limited hours, in downtown Iowa City. Unlike that location, the Iowa River Landing store will offer a full line of Lululemon's products.
Company officials did not immediately respond about whether they plan to keep the Iowa City showroom open. The company also has a store at Jordan Creek Town Center in West Des Moines.
Trumbull said she has courted Lululemon since before it opened the Jordan Creek location. The company had opened a pop-up shop in Iowa River Landing in July 2015, then the showroom in Iowa City. Lululemon, Trumbull said, typically follows that process as it tests a potential market.
Iowa River Landing, located along the Iowa River just south of Interstate 80, wants to create 'a unique destination” of retail shops and restaurants, Trumbull said. She added that the district still is looking to land additional women's and men's apparel stores, a store where customers can buy gifts and additional restaurants.
Existing tenants include Backpocket Brewing, 30hop, Scratch Cupcakery, Von Mauer and Evereve, among others.
Meanwhile, a 13,000-square-foot Trader Joe's is expected to open in October, Trumbull said.
