Marengo
Jerry Zavodsky Jr., 91, of Marengo, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Belle Plaine Specialty Care.
A funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 21, at Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. Visitation will take place an hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Koszta Cemetery in Koszta, with military honors.
Jerry was born July 25, 1924, in rural Marengo, the son of Jerry and Frances (Dvorak) Zavodsky. He attended country school, then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After the military he came home to work on the family century farm. On Dec. 17, 1947, Jerry was married to Gladys Kubik in Marengo at the Presbyterian Church.
Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and spending time with others.
He was a member of Marengo American Legion and served on its firing squad.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Gladys; sons, Jerry (Robin) Zavodsky III of Pleasantville and Michael Zavodsky of Marengo; grandchild, Justin Zavodsky of Pleasantville; and many more loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gladys Zavodsky and Ruth Gorsch; and brother, Raymond "Mike" Zavodsky.
