Dorothy E. Claney, 91, of Clarence, died Oct. 19, 2016, at UnityPoint Hospice-St. Luke's in Cedar Rapids.
Dorothy was born Jan. 9, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a daughter of Fred and Louise (Hulse) Miller. She married Arthur Claney on April 11, 1944, in Clarence. He passed away on Jan 24, 1999.
Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at St. John's United Church of Christ, Clarence, by Pastor Tommi Boeder. Burial: St. John's Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence.
Dorothy was a telephone operator at the Clarence Telephone Co. for 48 years. She enjoyed cards, golf and was on a bowling league well into her 80s.
She was a member of the Clarence Legion Auxiliary and St. John's United Church of Christ, where she was a choir member for many years. She loved her dog and her family to the very end.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn (Gene) Koth of Clarence; two grandchildren, Colette (Dan) Sander and Aaron Koth of Clarence; four great-grandchildren, Colin and Kayla Sander and Samantha and Benjamin Koth; a brother, Robert Miller of Clarence; and a sister, Donna Wulff of Clarence.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
