Mae V. Crosby, 93, died Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, at the Hiawatha Care Center. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
She was born on Aug. 26, 1922, in Coggon Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Crosby; her parents, Bessie and Albert Schatzle; a brother, Lester Schatzle; a sister, Lucille Estling; and a son-in-law, Steve Hotchkiss.
Surviving are son, William "Bill" Crosby and wife Pam of Marion; daughter, Rose Hotchkiss of Hiawatha; daughter, Shirley and husband Charles Cox of Carson City, Nev.; son, Edward Crosby and wife Janna of Robins; daughter, Marilyn and husband Nathan Soukup of Alburnett; son, Lyndon "Lindy" Crosby and wife Laurie of Robins; a brother, Eugene Schatzle of Kansas City, Mo.; sister, Martha and husband John Morris of Center Point; sister, Mary Strief of Marion; and sister-in-law, Pauline Schatzle of Hiawatha. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mae and "Bob" were married in 1942. They farmed in the Linn County area for many years. Mae was a devoted "stay at home Mom" to her six children and was a loving grandmother. She was a 51-year member of the Alburnett Christian Church and CWF.
