Mary Louise Kauffman, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, April 26, 2018. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church by the Rev. Christopher Podhajsky. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. A vigil service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Teahen Funeral Home, where friends may visit with the family following the vigil until
5 p.m., and on Monday at the church after 9 a.m.
Mary is survived by five daughters, Rita (Harry) Holmes of Palo, Theresa (Dave) Urban of Springville, Anita Meeker of Central City, Christina (Wali) Morris of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and Laura (Ron) Johnson of Cedar Rapids; three sons, William (Janet) of Springville, Gregory (Debbie) of Clearfield, Utah, and Dennis (Teri) of Belle Plaine; 33 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Margaret Wieneke of Cedar Rapids; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Auman and Russell (Betty) Kauffman, all of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; daughter, Rebecca Kauffman; grandson, Nick; granddaughters, Billie Sue and Angela; son-in-law, Gene Meeker; and nine siblings.
Mary was born on Dec. 1, 1923, the daughter of Charles and Otillie Muller Wieneke in Cedar Rapids. On Oct. 28, 1950, she married George Kauffman at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fairfax.
Mary enjoyed playing and listening to music, gardening, horseback riding and spending time with her grandchildren. Mary was a very faithful and dedicated member of the Catholic Church. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Mary's family would like to thank Hallmark Care Center in Mount Vernon for the compassionate care they gave her.
