Margy was born Jan. 21, 1951, to Donald and Margaret (Ebert) Fett in Storm Lake, Iowa. Margy grew up on a farm near Alta, Iowa, and received her early education from the elementary school associated with St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Hanover. While attending the University of Northern Iowa, she met Doug Joslin. They were united in marriage on May 8, 1971, in Cedar Falls. They moved to and made their home in Marshalltown in 1973. Margy received her B.A. in elementary education from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake.
Her first love was educating young children. Margy directed preschools for West Marshall Schools and St. Paul's Episcopal Church. She also owned and operated Margy's Pre-School. She impacted many young lives with her work at Head Start, a division of Mid-Iowa Community Action. She loved reading to children at Fisher Elementary as a part-time reading instructor.
Margy entered the corporate world in marketing for Security Bank (Great Western Bank) and Handy Industries. She also was marketing specialist for Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in Marshalltown.
Margy was awarded the Matin of the Year award in 1998 from Matins Kiwanis. She also served as liaison to Marshalltown Central Business District for MMSC. She was president and served on the board of directors of Trinity Lutheran Church. One of her greatest joys was serving on the call committee which brought Pastor Gregg Davison to Marshalltown.
Margy's faith was foremost in her life and she firmly believed she would find peace and eternal life. Shortly after being diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's disease, she confided in a close friend that she was at peace with her fate.
The family is very appreciative of the excellent care she received from Glenwood Place and Iowa River Hospice during the end stages of her life.
Margy is survived by her husband, Doug; two sons, Chad (Lucy) Joslin of Carol Stream, Ill., and Todd (Jodi) Joslin of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Brian Joslin of Carol Stream and Zoe Joslin of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Lynn Turnquist (Jim) of Houston, Texas, and Jeanne (Bill) Dahl of Plano, Texas; three sisters-in-law, Linda (Steve) Ritz of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Bonnie (Larry) Schuller and Teri (Larry) Graw of Cedar Rapids; and 10 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Verne Joslin; and brother-in-law, Dennis Joslin.
