Janice "Jan" L. Neisen, 78, of Denver, formerly of Waterloo and Marion, died Friday, April 9, 2015, at Northcrest Specialty Care Center in Waterloo.
Jan was born Jan. 8, 1937, in Dubuque, Iowa, the
daughter of Eugene and Corrine Catherine O'Brien Eberhard. She graduated from Mar Mac High School in 1954. She married Arnold "Arnie" Neisen in Asbury, Iowa, on Aug. 24, 1962. He died March 17, 2010.
Jan is survived by one daughter, Ginger (Daryl) Burns of Walker; a son, Kevin (Sara) Neisen of Denver; eight grand-children, Matt (Kim) Burns of Ballwin, Mo., Kip (Nikki) DeMarce of Viola, Kayla (Bryce) Paulson of Robins, Megan (Keith) Connerly of Boston, Mass., Melinda (Joel Henry) Burns of Sherman Oaks, Calif., Kollin (Traci Azbell) of Walker and Madison and Mason Neisen of Denver; five great-grandchildren, Connor and Caitlin Burns, Leah and Shayden Paulson and Max DeMarce; a brother, Jim Eberhard; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers, Gene and Pete Eberhard.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterloo, with interment in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway in Waterloo, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also will be one hour before services Tuesday at the church.
Memorials may be directed to Care Initiatives Hospice.
Jan volunteered at Linn-Mar High School in Marion, Americana Nursing Home in Cedar Rapids and as a volunteer probation officer for Black Hawk County Juvenile Courts.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was her world.
