Dixie Lee Nosley, 86, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at her home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A celebration of Dixie's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Marion Christian Church, 1050 McGowan Blvd., Marion, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior, beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. Entrusted with the arrangements is Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Dixie is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Charles of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Candice (Kevin) McCulloch of Machesney Park, Ill.; son, Kyle (Theresa) Nosley of Hiawatha, Iowa; four grandsons, Patrick (Rachel) McCulloch of St. Charles, Ill., Andrew (Margo) McCulloch of Roscoe, Ill., Nathan Nosley of Hiawatha, Iowa, and Noah Nosley of Hiawatha, Iowa; sister, Mardell Kohl of Cedar Rapids; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Dixie Lee Nosley was born July 14, 1931, to Charles Howard and Hazel Blanche (Koppenhaver) Mason in Mount Vernon, Iowa. She graduated from Lisbon High School with the class of 1949. On Feb. 12, 1950, she married her high school sweetheart, Charles Clayton Nosley. She accompanied Chuck to Chicago, where he attended Coyne Electrical and Radio-Television School. Dixie worked at a Firestone store during her time in Chicago. After Chuck's graduation, they moved back to Cedar Rapids and both worked for Hoover Appliance Co. She worked as scheduler and clerk in the service department.

When Chuck was drafted into the U.S. Army in February 1952, Dixie continued to work. She worked until their first child, Candice Lea, was born in 1956. Dixie then became a stay-at-home mom. They welcomed their second child, Kyle Mason, in 1960. Dixie was a loving and wonderful wife and mother. As her children got older, she began working again. Dixie was employed as a teacher's aide in the English department of Linn-Mar High School and then as the telephone operator of Linn-Mar schools. She was active in Marion Christian Church, singing in the choir and co-chairing the hospitality committee. Dixie was a member of PEO and the Sweet Adelines vocal group.

In 1993, the couple elected to move off their acreage and into a condominium in Marion. They later purchased a home in the Texas Trails RV Resort Park in Pharr, Texas, to spend the Iowa winters in a warmer climate. Dixie stayed active by making greeting cards, needlepoint, playing bridge, traveling and church activities. She especially enjoyed spending time with her beloved children, grandchildren and friends. Dixie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Marion Christian Church or The Meth-Wick Community in Dixie's honor.
