Blattner, Barbara Suzanne
Barbara Suzanne Blattner, 71, a longtime resident of the Cedar Rapids area, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at Linn Manor Care Center, Marion. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion, by the Rev. Darran Whiting. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Survivors include her children, Heidi (Craig) Hepker of Marion, and Mark Blattner of Marion; four grandchildren, Keaton, Aaron, Ryan and Dylan; sister, Patricia Atwater of Cedar Rapids; brother, Charles Shaffer of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her children's father, Max Blattner.
Barbara was born Feb. 2, 1938, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Russell and Elizabeth (Errington) Shaffer. She was a veteran of the Women's Army Corps, having served in Japan between 1957 and 1960. Barbara was a school bus driver for LinnMar Schools for 28 years, retiring in 2003. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Marion.
A memorial fund has been established in Barbara's memory.
