Larson, Alice E. (Guttormson)

Alice E. (Guttormson) Larson, 89, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Decorah, died Sunday, March 27, 2011, in the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fjelstul Funeral Home, Decorah. Friends may call one hour before the service Thursday at the funeral home. A reception will be held following the graveside services.

Alice was born in Decorah, Iowa. She attended Luther College and taught school from the late 1940s through the mid-1950s in the Decorah area. She moved to Cedar Rapids and worked at Rockwell Collins for nearly 30 years. She married Louis Larson; they later divorced. Following her retirement, she enjoyed traveling and volunteering at Mercy Hospital, Witwer Senior Center and the public library.

Survivors include a sister, Grace Spilde of Decorah; a daughter, Linda, and her four sons, William Beam, Brad (Evelyn) Beam, Darrance (Caitlin) Beam and Karlijoe (Alisa) Beam; a daughter, Marcia, and her six children, Aaron (Shannon) Sisco, Brandi (Andy) Maas, Casey (Dustin) Wendt, Mindy Sisco, McKenzie (Jody) Sisco and Dawn (Mark) Schneider; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen, Leona and Helen; and a brother, Robert.

 The family would like to thank the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy for the care they provided Alice. And a very special thanks to Dick Sisco Jr. for his love and care.
