Michael “Mike” Alibasic, 63, passed away at his home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Aug. 19, 2013. In respect of Mike's wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.

Mike served very proudly in our U.S. Marine Corps and in Vietnam. Upon his return home after honorable years served in the military, Mike pursued his career as a journeyman lineman and worked for IBEW. Mike made many great friends, acquaintances, and memories along the way all across the country from which he eventually retired in 2012.

In 1990, Mike married Linda and together they raised Dave and Jayme. Mike left an indelible impression on the boys. As the years passed, four grandchildren were added to the family. Mike's proudest moments were of the boys and grandchildren.

Mike enjoyed his grandkids, riding his motorcycle, being a private pilot, and spending time with his family.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Zora, and father, Osman.

Mike will be deeply missed by many friends and family members. He will be especially missed by his wife, Linda; Dave Barnhart (RaeAnn), Samuel and Sydney; Jayme Barnhart (Becky), Blake and Alyssa; and brothers, Osman, Vesa, and Luke.

Thank you to family, friends, Care Initiatives Hospice, and the employers who have given us time to spend together during this time of grief and loss. Words cannot express how much this time and support means.
