JEANNE M (ANDERSEN) CARSON
Troy Mills
Jeanne Carson, 82, of Troy Mills, Iowa, passed away Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021.
Jeanne was born May 7, 1938, the daughter of Edward and Fern (Price) Andersen. She grew up the oldest of four, in Viola and Troy Mills. Jeanne graduated valedictorian of the class of 1956 from Troy Mills High School.
In December of 1956 she was married to Willard E (Gene) Carson. Jeanne and Gene were blessed with three children, Brad (Carrie) Carson of Cedar Rapids, Curtis Carson and Dawn (Bert) Aberle, both of Troy Mills. The children blessed them with six grandchildren, Shawn (Jackie), Alida (Jeremy), Shane (Karlee), Nicholas, Leah and Lucas. The grandchildren blessed them with six great-grandchildren, Carson, Gretchen, Gannon, Nichol, Kaydence and Rowen. The light of her life these last few years was watching all of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow to be wonderful citizens and share their stories with her.
Jeanne worked at Collins Radio and then for 29 years and three months (her words) at Carson Grain in Troy Mills. In her retirement when she wasn't following the grandchildren, she worked at the USPS in Coggon.
Jeanne was the treasurer of many organizations, including Silver Creek UMC. RUSA Charge, The American Legion Auxiliary on many levels, Troy Mills Historical Society and TMAHDC. She served as President of the American Legion Auxiliary on all levels of the State of Iowa as well as the Central Division National Vice President and was a life member of the Department of Iowa Executive board.
She is welcomed into heaven by her husband Gene, grandson Nicholas, parents, in-laws, brother Leo, and brothers-in-law, Bob Perrin and Carl Carson.
Survivors in addition to those mentioned above are her siblings, Wilma Perrin and Larry (Coleen Andersen); and sisters-in-law, Sheri Andersen and Mary Carson, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make your memorial donation to a worthy charity or to the family to be given to The American Legion Auxiliary on all levels in Iowa, Eastern Iowa Honor Flight, or to the Linn County Freedom rock, in honor of Gene and Nicholas, or your favorite veteran.
Due to the restrictions of COVID-19, Jeanne will be laid to rest next to Gene on Monday, Jan. 18 at 10 a.m. at the Troy Mills Cemetery. The family will be at the Troy Mills American Legion from 1 to 5 p.m. following the interment should you wish to pay your respects. We all completely understand that this is not an easy time to come together to mourn. Please do as you are comfortable.
