Barbara Ann Van Epps, 85, of Oxford, formerly of Amana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, at Belle Plaine Specialty Care Center. Celebration of Life services will be noon Friday, Feb. 12, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be one hour before services Friday. A private family inurnment will be at a later date at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery near Homestead.
Barbara was born Oct. 10, 1930, in Amana, the daughter of Joe and Anna (Svoboda) Novak. Barbara was united in marriage to Vaughn A. Van Epps on Aug. 1, 1959, at Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua. She worked for many years at The Colony Inn, as well as The Barn, The Brick Haus and Zubers restaurants in the Amana area.
Barbara enjoyed cross stitching, making quilts, gardening, growing flowers, painting, traveling and taking an occasional trip to the casino. The time spent with her family was very meaningful, especially being with the grandkids and great-grandkids.
Barbara is survived by her children, Dennis Van Epps and Diane Van Epps, both of Oxford, and Donna Beyer of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Joe (Jess) Childers, Sarah Voelker, Justin Childers, Andrew (Shauna) Voelker and Nathan Wardenburg; nine great-grandchildren, Jack, Loralie, Addison and Isabella Childers, Quinten Voelker, Matthew Childers, Lillian, Maggie and Mattie Voelker; siblings, Vernon Novak of Cedar Rapids and Eddie Novak of Marengo; as well as her nephew, Billy Joe Novak; and cousins.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vaughn; and her brother, Leonard Novak.
