NORMA GARBERS
Van Horne
Norma Enge Louise Garbers, 96, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Keystone Nursing Care Center in Keystone following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Van Horne, with Pastor David Lingard officiating. Interment will be at Keystone Cemetery near Keystone. Friends may register at the church from 9 a.m. until service time on Thursday.
A memorial fund has been established.
Norma was born Nov. 2, 1917, in York Township of Tama County to William and Minnie (Allers) Krutzfeldt. She was baptized Nov. 2, 1926, and confirmed Dec. 21, 1933, at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone.
On Nov. 24, 1937, she was united in marriage to John Garbers at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone. He preceded her in death Feb. 26, 1992.
Norma was a member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Van Horne. As a busy farm wife and mother, she loved quilting and gardening and will be remembered as a fabulous cook.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jan and Carole Garbers of Van Horne; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy Hatfield, and her brother, Wilbert Krutzfeldt.
