Stevie Dee Von Stein, 35, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 9, 2018.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at Sanctuary Church of Cedar Rapids, located at 912 18th Ave. SW, where there will be a prayer service at noon, led by Pastor Craig Peters. A time for food and fellowship will follow the service.
Stevie was born July 13, 1982, in Beloit, Wis., the daughter of Steve Von Stein and Dee Foarde. She moved to Iowa and received her education in Cedar Rapids schools. She temporarily worked at Showtime Day Care and APAC. She enjoyed creating special homemade crafts, scrapbooking, taking care of plants, and being pen pals with the Doxie Den group. She was a lover of all animals, especially her fur babies, Max, Buddy, Abby and Rosie.
She loved being involved with roller derby. She was a huge part in the success of her dad winning "Best in Show" at the Race 'Em and Wreck 'Em five consecutive years. Most of all, she loved her best friend and soulmate, Jeremy, and being a stepmom to his boys. Her greatest joy in life was her daughter, Hailey, who she loved dearly.
Stevie is survived by her parents, Steve Von Stein of Hiawatha and Dee Nielson of Cedar Rapids; her stepmom, Rita Stearns; her daughter, Hailey; her soulmate, Jeremy, and his sons, Damian and Brandon; her sisters, Amy (Jim) Westphal of Ely and Trinket (Ryan) Quesenberry of California; her stepsister, Shelly Stearns; her nieces, Jaymeson, Kamryn, Madison, Scarlet, Trinity, Lexi and Bailee; her nephew, Liam; her grandma, Lucia Heslop of Cedar Rapids; as well as her aunts, uncles and many cousins.
Stevie was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, John and Rafaela Lopez; grandparents, Ned and Dot Von Stein; great-aunt, Caroline Lopez; her stepdad, Rick Nielson; as well as her close cousins Jordan Von Stein, Justin Fielder, Joe Pena and Allan Blessing,
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the Sanctuary Church, all her medical caregivers over the years, Hospice Compassus, and her many friends for the love you have shown her.
