Smith, Dolores 'Dee'
Dolores “Dee” Smith, 77, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at Solid Rock Open Bible Church, Cedar Rapids, doing her favorite thing, studying the Word of God. Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Pastors Larry Janda and Dan Sanford. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Newton Union Cemetery, Newton.
Dee was born May, 28, 1935, in Newton, daughter of James and Lillian (Beggs) Hannagan. On May 30, 1952, she married John Smith; he later passed away on Nov. 21, 2007. She was an active member at First Assembly of God in Newton until she moved to Cedar Rapids in 2005 and became a member of Solid Rock Open Bible Church.
Survivors include children, Johnnie (Sharon) Smith, Char Morris and Robin (Kraig) O'Malley, all of Cedar Rapids, and Randy (Kristin) Smith of Orangevale, Calif.; grandchildren, Shylo (Robert), John G. III (Leah), Gene (Emma), Christina, Starr (Rustin), Sherri (Matt), Shawn, Stephen, Krystal, Amber (LT) and Mandy; great-grandchildren, Kendal, Noah, Ella, Clayton, Maddy, Cami, Tiffany, Jordan, Laura, Peyton, Sandra, Jeremiah, Grace, Ellie, Mason and Skie; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Mary O'Neal; and her favorite dog, Shelby
She was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Smith; her parents, James Hannagan and Lillian Beggs; her daughter in infancy, Lonnie Sue; brothers, Dr. Leroy James, twin Ronald Edwin and Herbert in infancy; and a golden lab, Jack.
Her life was serving God and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established.
