Delila "Dee" Daniels, 96, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away Oct. 31, 2015, at Pinicon Place in Anamosa. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Garden of Last Supper.Dee was born Oct. 23, 1919, in Springville, Iowa, to Frank and Ruth Woodworth Palmer. She was a graduate of Springville High School. Dee married Russell Laird Daniels in 1945 in Great Bend, Kan. They were later divorced but remained good friends until Laird's death in August 2013.
Dee was a secretary for the Cedar Rapids school district, retiring in 1984 after 22 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Marvin A. Palmer.
Survivors include daughter, Cathy Rae Daniels of Greensboro, N.C.; and "second daughter," JoAnn Collins of Cedar Rapids.
The family extends its sincerest appreciation to Above & Beyond Hospice Care of Monticello for their compassion and care in Dee's last days.
There are no words to express our thanks to the extraordinary staff at Pinicon Place in Anamosa. The kindness and consideration they showed Dee for her entire residency was amazing.
