Dennis, Dee Ann
Dee Ann Dennis, 65, a resident of Keystone Cedars in Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013. Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at First Christian Church in Center Point by the Rev. Melanie Van Weelden. Burial: Center Point Cemetery. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point.
Dee was born May 1, 1948, the daughter of Keith A. and Irma M. (Paulda) Dennis in Cedar Rapids. She was a previous resident of Center Point, Cedar Rapids Project Independence Apartments, and Keystone Cedars. Dee attended Center Point and Cedar Rapids schools, graduating from Kennedy High School. She worked for 40 years at Grant Wood Area Education Agency. After retirement Dee volunteered at Mercy Medical Center and learned to knit at Witwer Senior Center, making hats for cancer patients and premature babies and prayer shawls.
Dee enjoyed traveling independently with Search Beyond Adventures, watching sports, and spending time with friends.
Survivors include her mother; sister, Kaye (George) Running of Dubuque; nephew, Nathan Running of New York, N.Y.; niece, Kristi Running of St. Paul, Minn.; and cousins, Dennis (Ellen) Bull of Beaumont, Calif., and Keith (Sue) Bull of Sherman, Ill.
Dee was preceded in death by her father, grandparents, aunt and uncle.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First Christian Church, Center Point, Camp Courageous, UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospice, or a non-profit of your choice.
Dee valued her independence and the family wishes to thank all those who helped her achieve this goal.
