Moses, Betty Jane
Betty Jane Moses, 86, of Ely, died Friday, Sept. 21, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, with burial to follow in Rogers Grove Cemetery near Ely. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Betty was born Dec. 29, 1925, in Iowa City, the daughter of Frank and Ada (Volesky) Langer. She married Joseph Stanley Moses on Feb. 27, 1946, in Ely. Betty and Joe farmed in the Ely area for many years. She was a member of Friendship Club of Ely, Rebekah Lodge and Johanna Society. Betty enjoyed collecting dolls, going to auctions, baking angel food cakes, sewing, gardening and most of all spending time with her family.
Betty is survived by her children, JoAnne Heims of Anamosa, David Moses, Karl Moses, Howard (Sheila) Moses, Daniel Moses, and Kevin (Kim) Moses, all of Cedar Rapids, Joe (Linda) Moses, Pat (Linda) Moses, Pam (Rich) Tichy and Marlys Moses (Mark Popelka), all of Ely, Susie Moses (Tim Ewing) of Blairstown and Jake (Lori) Moses of Louisville, Ky.; 27 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Schutzman of Toddville; and a sister-in-law, Marie (Louis) Stepanek of Cedar Rapids.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph; a son-in-law, Jim Heims; and a brother-in-law, Ivan Schutzman.
