Noodles & Co. to open third area restaurant in downtown Iowa City

The noodle-centric restaurant chain Noodles & Co. will open its first store in Iowa City next month at Old Capitol Town Center.

Noodles & Co. is tentatively scheduled to open April 2 at Old Capitol Town Center in the former Taco Bell ground floor space, according to local manager Greg Dillon. The restaurant will seat about 35 guests, and offer takeout.

The chain entered the Corridor market in 2011 with stores at 2451 Second St., Coralville, and at 310 Collins Road NE, Cedar Rapids. It offers a variety of 19 noodle dishes and salads, including Asian, Mediterranean and American varieties.

The chain started out in 1995 in Denver, Colo., and has grown to more than 250 locations. Dillon said the company is planning to open another restaurant in Waterloo and three additional restaurants in Des Moines.
