Ray, Harold P.
Harold P. Ray, 74, of 227 16th Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Celebration of life service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, the Rev. David Grandon will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 2:30 p.m. Friday at the chapel.
Survivors include his children, Diane (Keith Brown) Charnowski of Cedar Rapids, Frank (Dorothy) Ray of Monticello, and Cheryl Ray of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Angel of Washington state; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his friend, Pauline Currie.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Harold was born May 8, 1935, in Marion, to Harold and Frances Viall Ray. He was very proud of working two jobs for so many years, 52 years installing bronze markers at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery and 37 years at Cedar Rapids Inc. (Terex).
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cedar Valley Humane Society, 7411 Mount Vernon Rd. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403.
