Police arrest man for string of bank robberies

Cedar Rapids and Marion police have arrested a man allegedly responsible for a year-long string of bank robberies.
Daniel Ray Nicholson, 33, of Cedar Rapids, has been charged with four counts of second degree robbery.
The charges include robberies at Wells Fargo Bank at 340 7

Avenue, Marion in September 2010, Wells Fargo Bank at 3406 F Avenue NW, Cedar Rapids in December 2010, Wells Fargo Bank at 3570 1

Avenue, Cedar Rapids in January 2011, and, two weeks ago, Hills Bank at 3905 Blairsferry Rd NE in Cedar Rapids..
In the most recent robbery, bank cameras captured an image of an unarmed man wearing a white surgical mask, who demanded money from the teller. Just minutes earlier, a camera at a nearby convenience store photographed the same man before he donned the mask, according to police.
Nicholson will be transported to the Linn County Jail. Investigators are continuing to document evidence, and will likely release more information next week, police said.
