John B. Miller, John B. Miller
John B. Miller, 93, of Dyersville, died Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, at Dubuque Nursing & Rehab. Center, Dubuque. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with burial in the church cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Robert Gross.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where a Scripture service will be held at 4 p.m.
John was born on March 11, 1916, in Worthington, Iowa, the son of Henry and Mary (Lutmer) Miller. He was united in marriage to Henrietta C. “Kay” Barker on Sept. 25, 1945, in Earlville, Iowa. Together they made their home in Dyersville. John worked for John Deere in Dubuque for several years, then drove stock truck for over 30 years hauling livestock for area farmers. He was a big Cubs fan and loved to fish. John was proud of his John Deere pocket watch and was a farmer at heart.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Anna Mae (Lyle Sr.) Elliott and Elizabeth “Betsy” Miller, all of Dubuque; 3 sons, Gerald (friend Sandi Andresen) Miller of Dubuque, Charles (Debra) Miller of Osceola, and Ralph Miller of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 brother-in-law; and 3 sisters-in-law.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Henrietta “Kay;” 2 infant sons, John Henry and Bernard Joseph; a great-grandson, Christian Simon; 3 brothers; and 3 sisters.
Memorials can be made to Hospice of Dubuque.
