RICHARD MILLER Williamsburg Richard J. Miller, 64, died Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 6, at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Pastor James Parks will officiate. Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Williamsburg. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are for the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powell funeralhomes.com. Richard John Miller was born Feb. 7, 1951, in Williamsburg, Iowa, to Dr. D.F. and Florence (Dehne) Miller. He graduated from Williamsburg High School and Iowa State University. Richard was united in marriage to Mary Kate Hanson on June 12, 1982, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Holbrook. They were blessed with three children. Richard was employed by Holden's Foundation Seeds for almost all of his life, where he worked as a corn breeder and a plant pathologist. Richard enjoyed spending time at the family cabin, fishing, hunting, woodworking and especially enjoyed watching his children in their activities. He is survived by his wife, Mary; three children, Samantha Miller of Iowa City, Zackary Miller of Ames and Melissa Miller of Williamsburg; and three brothers, Wayne (Judy) Miller of Naperville, Ill., Dr. Roger (Jan) Miller of Toledo, Ohio, and Denny (Teresa) Miller of Dubuque. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Wendy.
