Communism slowly taking over America

In her June 8 letter, Cherie Haury-Artz states: “A good education for every child is a primary responsibility of a government.” Does she know that in 1848, Karl Marx stated in the Communist Manifesto that free public education for every child, combined with industrial production, was a goal of his (then) new idea of socialism?

Few Americans realize that over time, we have accepted six of the 10 “planks” of the communist platform. Marx would be proud.

A relatively short time ago, say 60 years or so, we thought, believed and proclaimed that America held a different ideal - personal responsibility and personal freedom. We've been asleep far too long. Wake up!
