To the editor:
The possibility that the Cedar River will reach or exceed flood stage holds no fear for us. After all, since the flood of 2008 the city's leadership has dedicated itself to creating a combination of flood plains, dikes and levees that will avoid any further water catastrophes.
Of course this has meant delaying such important projects as painting pictures of bicycles on the city streets or relocating Second Avenue to meet the demands of a medical conglomerate. But everybody understood that we could not afford to have city hall flood or businesses in the NewBo area suffer water damage.
I can't wait to hear Monica Vernon talk about her role in providing flood protection when she runs for Congress. I am sure it will be quite a tale.
